I don't backcount much but I have crushed some shoes backcounting these bad games. I was waiting for some one to arrive and you can't turn off the counting so while standing next to a blackjack table I was waiting for her arrival. The count got interesting and there was only 1 seat available so I sat down before I might have otherwise. The next round was all low cards so I was betting max. Then another round of low cards and the LL( index was well exceeded. So going with the ploppy act I asked what the side bet was that everyone was betting while pointing at the circle. I put my max bet up and got 20 on every hand except for a blackjack until the shuffle. I hit every LL payout except the ones that have both heart queens. After a half dozen or so rounds the cut card came out. I had won almost 2K on the side bet and half that on the main bet. I wished everyone luck and got up and started waiting by a different table. Nothing else developed before she arrived. I had no intention of playing BJ on this trip as I was seeking other opportunities while exchanging ideas with fellow APs.

So you happened to be in the right spot at the right time. Under those circumstances I would have sat down too.
But you have to admit that you would not drive to AC to intentionally play one of these games unless your doing something other than straight counting it.
They are vulnerable to backcounting but I don't backcount at all because I can't physically do it any longer.
So for a play all straight count player these games suck and that is why AC will continue to lose revenue every year.

I always have money in the casino. You never know when opportunity will knock. I was watching a game once while scouting when I noticed the dealer was mispaying the side bet. After seeing a half dozen overpays in a row I sat down and played. It was a sucker side bet , in between if memory serves, but each win was paid as if the spread were 1 less than it was. I did make money but not as much as I thought I would. I never got the best payouts and won less often than expectation.
