what if there is a player or players who is /are making a big fuss over your play and
drawing attention to you from pit boss?
This is the way I play and will continue to play. If you don't like it I suggest you find another table because I will continue to do these things. That next card is my card until I waive it off not the dealers card. Usually when I want to clear a table I can do it. Some see me sit down and they just move. I get comments like I remember you, I am not playing at your table. That's what I want anyway so why worry about it.

    Great suggestion.
Do the pit bosses come over and give you more scrutiny because of this?
I'm sure they want their clients to be happy. That is what I worry about.
if people get up every time I arrive...
also sometimes I get to a point where I worry about my safety with some characters
in my local joint. I'm thinking of carrying a mace.

Usually the pit don't appreciate the blamers. The dealer is the first to be blamed for them losing. If that doesn't fit they lose because of something someone else did. It couldn't be because they suck at BJ. That is something they can't consider. To them they would win every hand if someone didn't mess them up. LOL

I have actually turned blamers to complimenters by pointing out they could notice every time something they don't agree with is done and it messes them up and be miserable. Or they could notice every time it helps them and be happy. They happen with the same frequency.

You know those idiots who complain, b1tch, and moan any time any thing doesn't go their way? Guess what -- no one likes them, not the dealer nor the boss.

Like BigPlayer (I think it was him) says, you want to be a ghost. It's hard to be a ghost when someone is getting borderline violent over your playing.

There was a guy about a month ago that came as close to yelling as possible without actually yelling. Luckily he was not at my table. He was all up in this poor lady's face for not playing according to BS (she was sitting at third base) and we could hear him three tables away. Now, as for me, I'm quite confrontational in my everyday life. If he were at my table, it would be my temptation to say something like "if you have a problem with me, then maybe we should just step outside and I'm sure that we could figure it out." Of course, as a counter, this is obviously not what I would want to do. I would have to be the one to leave the table because there was no way that this guy would have left. What if they don't get up? You have to get up if you want to attract as little attention to yourself as possible. Some whiners are harmless, others are not so it just depends.

I'm not afraid to retort heavily against someone who criticizes my playing, but some ploppies simply draw attention to me that I do not want and will not budge. It just depends.

Agreed. My latest encounter with an a-hole moaning loudly about the way I was playing was about to draw attention. He was drinking and getting louder and claiming I was "killing him." I stood on a 16 vs. 10 again (for good reason) and this time he got a 7 that made his hand instead of the 10 he thought was coming. I said, "You're welcome" and left. Shortly after I left, I saw the PB over there arguing with the guy. A while later, he was being escorted away by security. He was nothing but trouble.

I just don't want that attention. The loud drunks are trouble and won't leave (in my experience). I'm trying to fly under the radar and this is NOT helping. Better to slip away to a nice, quiet table and get back to work...

I like the LUCK thing works everytime, counters rarely speak of LUCK.

That's definitely my favorite one to use. I use it often.

I get a little nervous when I have placed a big bet and end up splitting and doubling down on those splits. I know of a casino that is DD, DAS, 3/2 blackjack and double down on anything. In other words, 6 deck rules on a DD (cool eh?)

I did this recently and I always fear more when it is DD vs. 6-deck. As I am placing more bets to split and DD, I purposely do so with hesitation and say something like "Dear God, I didn't think I would be risking this much. Oh well, go big or go home right?" I try to look physically nervous like I've made a big mistake. If I lose, I play it cool like it was all in good fun as a fun gambler. If I win, I give the dealer a good tip and celebrate openly (like a ploppy would). I have only lost once under these circumstances on a DD game and have won every other time. It makes me nervous though.

No DD available around here but splitting to 4 hands with some doubles at max bet happens often enough. Your entire session can swing on the results of that one round if all your bets are resolved the same way, either winners or losers.

I had a guy watch as I did strategy deviations 4 rounds in a row. I took the card that would have given the dealer 21 each time and pointed it out to everyone. Ploppies were thanking me. Platers won max payoff side bet wagers as a result of changing the order of the cards on 2 of those rounds as well. They next time I did it I "took the dealers bust card" and a guy got very upset. What an idiot. He just won 4 hands in a row because I played my hand properly deviating from BS. Then 1 time he sees my take a card he wanted the dealer to get and he got upset. He won 80% of those hands instead of 20% and still complained. UNREAL
