OP, for your BR, you have you go off strip, like the Stations, Boulder Highway, North, and West to get the lower minimum, decent games. Play during the weekdays. Take a look at CBJN and you'll see.

Bare minimum $20K BR for green chipping but more is preferred. It depends more on your top bet than your min bet.

I'd also say that if you regularly put money into your bankroll from your day job, then you can be more aggressive. Don't get too carried away though.

    T. When you refer to bank roll, is it trip bank roll or bank roll designated and kept for BJ for the long run. I always have trip bank rolls and have been well equipped for week trips or weekends. I wish I could do it differently.

This is going to go against the math but I would tell someone with $10k who is truly playing a strong game to play 25 min games (obviously play lower mins if the same rules are available but max bet should be 2x150 at least). The reason is this. There are only so many casinos in this country and hardly any of them have decent rules and pen below the $25 min level. Eventually that person is going to get heated up at the few good games even if they play red, and expenses are so high that travelling to red chip is just not worth it. The risk of ruin might actually be HIGHER with a $100 max bet compared to say 2x150 after expenses, inability to rotate games leading to quicker burnout (and then having to travel long distances to play as a result) etc. Yeah the math says you will bust something like half the time, but someone playing red trying to work their way up has a far less than half chance of making enough money to make this worth their time. What you are really looking for is to get on a miracle heater and get to a $75k or $100k roll. And by the way you would not raise your max bet if you went from say $10 to 20 or 30k. With a six figure roll you are going to be able to play in the high limit rooms even in the casinos that have terrible other games, you will be able to cover expenses easily, you can work the comp game at a chosen group of casinos to always stay/eat free...it is just a level that this becomes far more viable.

I was talking entire BR. It is pretty high RoR but if you go below that you aren't green chipping anymore. I wouldn't go on a trip with much less than that. The last thing you want is to run out of money. Especially in the middle of a great shoe.

I guess you need a deep pocket and nerves of steel to play this game properly.
Me, I guess I will play it safe for a while and hope to somehow come up with $20k
i can spare. If chance of losing all of $10k on $25 min game is close to 50%, that's too risky for me.
My whole family has to live on beans for years to come up with $20k outside of living expenses.

maybe I will hit royal flush in video poker with a free play I have...
I the mean time, i guess I will have to settle for net profit a little better than extreme couponing..

I don't think it's 50%. I don't do sims or math for this, but 50% seems extremely high. I am going on my play only, so I can be wrong. I am interested what the variance is for 10K in a good BJ game and playing short sessions where you Wong out aggressively.
If not married and I decided to "go for it" with 10K, I am going to guess 25-30% would be my doom level. I am sure a good mathematical reply is on the way.
On the other hand, if I were to go pro, I would like to have 50-70K and play 25 min. and I will guess this will have a RoR about 10%.
How far off am I? I hope to hear. I know KJ has personal experience with bank rolls in this neighborhood and T probably can zero in on the numbers. I am guessing this should be of interest to those that want to play a better game at 25 min, and should know bank rolls, trip and total BJ bank rolls.
