I often receive $25 matchplay coupons. I had been using them as part of my bet - say, when the count is positive and calls for 2 units ($50) I will play one green + the coupon.

If I get a blackjack and have the coupon out, I only get 3:2 on the chip, not the matchplay (which pays 1:1). So instead of winning $75 with a blackjack, I win $62.50.

Should I wait until I have a certain advantage to play the coupon as part of my spread, or should I play it ‘in addition’ to my spread? For example, the situation calls for my max bet of 8 units. Should I place $200 in green and add the matchplay in ‘addition to’, or should I place $175 and add the matchplay?

Also, is it best to do this at a slightly positive count as opposed to a very high count because of the 1:1 on blackjack payoff?

I am mainly wondering about a DD game, spreading $25 - $200.

Thanks so much for any insight, I appreciate it.
