Phone scam pretending to be IRS

There is a phone scam going on right now by people impersonating IRS agents. What a stupid thing to do. I am sure the penalty for impersonating an IRS agent is extremely severe. Anyway, they call up hoping to get old people or stupid people. They say that they have been trying to contact you for years about a failure to file a form years ago. The interest and penalties have been mounting and you have failed to answer any of their previous attempts to contact you. The police are about to show up at your door to arrest you and take you to Washington. The IRS will then take your house and car and all your possessions. You know all the worst stuff that the IRS can do.

They are hoping for you to quickly settle over the phone. A mention of your tax attorney handling all this or any skepticism will scare them off and make them hang up. Let those that you think are gullible enough or vulnerable enough to fall victim to this scam know about the scam so they don't become a victim.
