zoomie: Question re: Keep the Suites Coming
What do you think is the best way to keep in RFB at my favorite hotel? I'm afraid of catching their attention by playing rated and winning.

Play rated and LOSE (or at least appear to). lol

Good idea and that was my strategy until recently. My ratholing led to the supervisor swiping my card then whispering to the dealer. I was never shuffled up or cut thick, so the whispering has to be about pocketing chips. Which leads to attention, and I don't need that. At my stakes I would need to rathole $250/hr to survive indefinitely, and that is not likely to go undetected.
My current best idea is to play rated at my fave store, play only blacks with a wimpy 1:3 ramp, which should be break even and keep me RFB, and play hard everywhere else unrated. Thoughts?

I'll tell you something that I learned after several years. Something that I wish I had figured out sooner.
If you are playing in your own name and getting full RFB, then make sure you go out of your way to NOT bang them over the head.
Keep you winning sessions moderate and not even concern yourself with playing even.
Save your sessions where you hit them hard, for when you are playing under different names and ID"S.
If you bang them over the head when you are playing in your own name, I don't care how much camo you use, it will get someones attention.
So now, I am a different person in every casino I play in.
This way, if that person is busted it has no bearing on what I do elsewhere.
The 2 places I still play in my own name, I have a very conservative approach.
DON'T FORGET: They dont have to bust you counting, they only need to suspect you. Then they rewind the tapes and your done. And you very rarely know it until after you leave.
You can sense things going on around you, but when you have a relationship with them, they do most of the homework on you while you are home in bed.
Then they either wait for you to call for a suite before they drop it on you. Or in one case a AC casino lured me back and locked me out of my suite before I played one hand.
All because they wanted to get frontal photo's of me. All they had were aerials.
As people who post on here will tell you, I was a guy who got rooms that were 2 stories with elevators in them etc.
So i'm no stranger to RFB. Trust me.
Don't make the mistakes I made when playing as myself. \
Good luck,

I didn't think AC could do that. You may have a case against them.
Back to the OP's question:
Is it even worth trying to keep your RFB? How many hours of play are necessary to keep your RFB? At an EV of $200/hr, are you a net winner or loser with this play if you simply paid for a room and banged away at the game?

Good question. It's a close call. My EV is more like $100/hr and my best guess is I would need to play blacks 1 hr per day to keep my RFB. That seems slightly advantageous compared to paying for everything. And I like the VIP treatment

That's a good question.
They usually want 4 hours. But, to be fair the couple of places that I keep a relationship with take good care of me. And quite frankly at the end of a weekend when I add it all up it comes to a few thousand dollars in comps.
My net winnings by year end with them is very little.
But, i'm not there to frequently. I mostly play each week in cognito in other places. However, sometimes the wife wants a good show that is playing or the kids need suites for there friends.
So it works and is quite cost effective.

How do you play incognito at other places if you're ringing up $1000s in comps over a weekend? Are you playing for a lesser rate? Disguise? I think if you play at such a winrate to enable RFB casinos would start wondering why you don't want rating/comps... 'just passing through' wouldn't cut it. I'm pretty sure I'm nowhere near your avg bet but even I have been asked if I was staying at that particular place and if no, then where, and why not.
Also had a general question on casino shifts... what are the times for swing, night, day etc. And does the sky operate according to the same hourly schedule?
Thanks.

In the places where I play in cognito I DON'T GET ANY COMPS. That was my point. I play in those places just to hammer them. If I get busted I move on. I won't hesitate to split 10's etc.
In each casino I am a different person with a different look. And if I get poped, who cares, they don't see me for at least 9 months and when I go back I don't look the same and i'm not the same person.
But, when playing in the few places i'm left in my own name i'm much more conservative in my approach.
Also, when playing in cognito I keep my sessions short.
They almost always send a host to woo me while I play in cognito. I always am polite and thank them and take their card. My answers to them are generic.
Regarding your other question, I used to take shift movement very very seriously. I monitored them closly and kept good records on penn levels for each person and each shift I play on. But, these days I monitor the penn levels in my journal more closly.
One of my reasons for this is that I found over time, that we keep a close eye on the shifts in front of us. But, we have no idea what the shift schedule is like upstairs with the anti counting crew.
When you only play blacks with large numbers, you are being monitored even if you don't know it.
Most of the times I was barred, I didn't see it coming.
Also, very frequently (when playing as yourself) the barring won't come that day, they will wait until you want to come in again or wait until you get home.
I remember the greatest BJ author of all time who posts in here regularly, told me a story once where they barred him through a phoney email address he gave them for contact.
They sent him an email for when he got home and told him he was no longer welcome lol lol lol. That one really blew me away.
Actually, always keep your antenna up double high if a pit boss is NOT near you at all. They want you relaxed while upstairs do their jobs.
AC has a strange shift operation. They swing them in at all different hours and sometimes it's hard to monitor because they bring them in at such different times.
I have found over the years that it's easier to jump from casino to casino then it is to monitor shift schedules in this recession (which has taken a bite out of them) because of the layoff's and them trying to keep as many working as they can. They seem to be moving them around more then ever.
Now, if you are referring to shift monitoring when I play in my own name. That's a different story. I never concern myself with it. The resason being is I keep my bet spreads smaller and I don't do anything that would arouse attention.
In most cases I limit the more obvious indices and use the more generic ones.
Remember what I said in the previous post. They DON'T need to bust us, only suspect us. If they suspect us we are done. Camo, blah blah blah. The films never lie.
I was barred from one casino for to many winning sessions in succession. They told me it was to far beyond the laws of probability. And although they could not pinpoint it, they knew something was not right. They were quite polite .

Thousands in comps in a single weekend? No wonder you had an elevator . . . Just returned from a playing trip. Per H's advice, made nice, pretty much flat bet blacks, won $2,800 doing that. Oops.

More interesting stuff. But, uh, which are "obvious" indices and which are "generic"?

Generic may not have been the right word.
What i'm saying is that the differences are major when i'm playing for the kill.
I live by Don's 18. But, as you know, there are many more.
However, when playing in my own name I would never split 10's.
I'm more careful about not hitting the 16 againt the 10 when minimum bets are on the table.
I take insurance when I shouldn't etc.
The camo is more in play.
I keep my spreads much lighter.
When playing in cognito, I don't care about the above, because i'm not there long enough to matter
NEVER on the same weekend do I do both.
When i'm playing as someone else I jump from one casino to another.
My play in my own name is NOT enough to kill anyone. After a weekend of extensive comps, i'm more then happy to to either win small or play even.
I find when I keep my sessions to 45 min to an hour, they barely have time figure it all out.

DO you find this to be true for DD as well as shoe games?
