In my experiece I'm guessing not 1 player in 10 uses Basic Strategy. Sound right?

    Parker: Depends

I'd say that the overall level of competence in major casino areas such as Las Vegas is fairly good, less so in remote areas.

It also depends on what level of basic strategy competence we consider. Most players know to stand on 17 or better, stand on stiff hands against weak dealer upcards, double down on 10 or 11, etc.

Far fewer play the less intuitive hands correctly, such as A7 vs 10.

If we're talking about perfect basic strategy, in my area it might be 1 in 100, if that.

I have often asked, when someone says they know basic strategy, "When do you split nines?" I have yet to hear someone say, "two through 9 except seven."

1:100 is generous. i rarely see anyone follow basic strategy...& it's obvious they're not adjusting bec of the count.
