Jay: Game House Edge?
Question was posted by someone on a non-AP board about a game where ties are 1/2 bet losers not a push. Other rules are 6D, S17, DOA, S3, no RSA, LS. I tried to look around for an answer, but couldn't find that rule variation listed.
What's the edge on the game? What kind of BS variations would be needed? Thanks for your assistance.

D...O...N...'T......P...L...A...Y...!!!
Seriously, Jay, according to Wong's Basic Blackjack, Table 36 (pg. 141), if you sum all the unbusted ties you see that, with "normal" B.S., you'll tie the dealer 9.44% of the time. Since instead of a push these hands all lose 50%, the house edge on the "ties lose half" game will be 4.74% higher than on the "normal" game. Since the other rules appear to give a house edge of 0.33%, this additional rule rounds the house edge up to a nice, fat 5.07%.
Wong actually gives B.S. for an even worse game, dealer WINS all ties (Table 18, pgs. 88-89), and notes that even with the specialized B.S. the house edge here is an amazing 8.8%... makes the slots look attractive!
Hope this helps! And remember Nancy Reagan's slogan, "Just Say No!" ;-)

Don Schlesinger: My two cents ... or 0.02%, at least :-)

Er, if I've divided by 2 correctly, that would be 4.72%. :-)

5.05%. But, at this point, who's counting? :-)

Thanks for the replies! I guess I'll have to avoid NH casinos.
