    caution: splitting aces question SP21

At The Mohegan Sun you only receive one card on split aces in Spanish 21-- Is it better to just hit or double vs a dealers low card rather than split and be locked in with the cards you receive ?
    Thanks

Splitting is better in a BJ shoe game with the same rule. In SP21 your split gives up only some unlikely bonuses on the original hand, like 5 card 21. I would say splitting is the higher EV (but also the higher variance).

Always split except for A,A vs A. Hit that hand instead.

It's an extremely costly rule increasing the HA by almost 75%.

Presuming it's S17 (not H17), basic strategy is to hit A-A versus A, and split A-A versus 2 through X. Better still, cound cards and use indices. However, the count has to be very low for you to start hitting A-A against low cards. You really shouldn't be playing counts that low.
