    zoomie: Current team approach

I would like to know the current thinking on teams. Is the BP now uncommon? Is the popular approach today pooling wins/losses to reduce flux? Something else? TIA.

Do you really think that this is an appropriate topic for a public message board?

Parker is right; nobody's giving away the farm. However, I will state that most former team players are now solo artists-if they even continue playing. Teams are good when they work, meaning the management is top-notch. Mostly they blow apart for any number of reasons.

I think that no one should discuss publicly any topic that could give casinos an advantage that they do not already have. Nevertheless, some of the discussions here arguably fall into that category - how to spot an expert AP by noticing certain unusual plays is one that comes to mind. If my question also falls into that category, I would discourage any substantive response. If the answer is harmless because it would not better enable a casino to spot a team, then there is no reason not to discuss it, is there?

Do you even have any actual experience of card counting at all or is this just a academic survey of interest question? Sometimes you need to find the answer for YOURSELF thru personal encounters of experience and conditions at the casinos you take action to....if any!!

Actually my question is based on my 30+ years of experience with RPC for BJ and now HiLo for SP21. As I have noted in an earlier post, I have never run across another AP. (Well, maybe once. A guy seemed to be sitting out neg counts, then flat-betting the minimum on positive counts. Go figure.) Since my retirement a couple of years ago I have been playing a lot, sometimes every week. Pen is deteriorating, and a team to help make up for that and to reduce flux could be good. Nevertheless, since I never see counters and have no AP friends, I am not too hopeful of joining or forming a team. So I asked FWIW.

It all depends on what you are trying to accomplish with the team. BP is, for the most part, obsolete.

You are better off 1) sharing information with other AP's. Just telling one another (privately) where the good games and dealers are is a form of team play, and 2) playing to a combined bankroll, as you mentioned. The latter method often generates problems due to human nature.

You have more experience than i do! However, even though i prefer being a soloist and have never been on(or)formed a team, i have came to the conclusion several years ago that everything applies to CONDITIONS(hint)of casinos at the TIME you're there, including ambient temperature and barometric pressure. I too hardly ever see any card counters, but by all the paranoia on the interenet message boards you would think there are tons of them...which is obviously false.
