zoomie: Word is spreading about Ms. Walker's book

This weekend a SP21 dealer said to me, "You play differently than the others. You must have read the Spanish 21 book. I heard there was one but I haven't seen it." So the word is spreading . . .

The fact that he realized you were playing differently indicates just how badly people have been playing this game since its inception.

True. They are just having fun gambling, like craps players, slotters and so on, and with neither any notion of nor really any care for proper BS - apart perhaps for the BJ loyalists who insist, and vehemently all too often, that BJ BS is correct for SP21 as well. As Katarina notes, of course, the Ploppies fund our AP winnings as well as the casinos'.

Uh oh. To date, I've counted on the pit totally ignoring the game. Hopefully it continues...

I wonder what made him think that "differently" was somehow "better"?

The very first time I ever played it a bigger-bettor complained about my play, stealing his card, etc., the PB then wanted to look at my BS card.

A couple minutes later, after sharing the joke of how I had been and was going to play with others in the pit, he
said, small bettor as I was, with a broad grin, "You're welcome anytime".

BS existed along time before her book after all.

I've encountered a few players who seem to know BS reasonably well, hitting 12s and 13s against "bust cards." I wonder where they learned it?

    OTOH, I've seen players surrender 14 v 8, etc. :.)

Mike Shackleford has a great site with wonderful BS charts at his website (below). That's how I learned to play about 8+ years ago when you could find S17 games in Indiana. Man, did it piss people off when I played - always complaining about how I was screwing things up for the table.

There was also a book out that was popular called "Armada Strategies for Spanish 21" by Frank Scoblete. I know that RGE carried it before Viktor bought the company.

Also a poster using the handle Wild Bill outlined basic strategy and some count strategies for one version of the game. The post is archived at another website and was there for quite a few years before the latest book came out.

The latest book hasn't so much let a secret out of the bag as provided more detailed and valuable analysis as well as accurate numbers/strategies for the different versions of the game.

I know you probably don't want to get too specific, but could you tell me if that occured in AC, Vegas, or somewhere else? Thanks.

What does it matter? Surveillance types from all over must monitor this board, so reporting it is the same thing as it happening everywhere, don't you think? In any event, if you are smart enough to count and win, you can figure out where it *probably* was . . .
