MJ: Movie "21" : How do you think casinos will react?

With "21" coming out to theaters later this month, do you guys think casinos will be on the defensive for counters? Lets face it, a lot of wannabe counters will crop up as a result of this movie. Personally, I think casinos will overreact and make their lousy games even harder to beat by cutting 2+ decks off the shoe. If the casino already offers poor games like in AC, the game will remain lackluster. No real change in AC will occur.

This film WILL impact Las Vegas casinos, which offer some of the best rules in the world not to mention mid-shoe entry. Yes, this film will really hurt those who play Vegas. With any luck, the casinos MIGHT revert to the games they were offering prior to this film.

I think the reaction will be cut-off less so they can deal more hands per hour to the sucker... err.. customers and make sure the dealer's trays are always kept full of chips so there is never a delay for new people buying in.

"wannabe counters" are even more profitable for the casino than normal ploppys. The comps might get better for playing blackjack as the casinos start to compete for "wannabe counter" business.

Do you really thinking watching a hollywood glorified 2 hour movie is all it takes to become a threat to the casino?

It only took the casinos 20 years to react to Thorp's Beat The Dealer.

Maybe, but it's a dramatized movie based on already dramatized events. The whole thing is going to look so glamorous that I doubt the movie will do more than sell a bunch of books. Once people figure out that it's a lot harder than the movie and book make it look, most will never make it to the tables as a serious, or even semi-serious, counter. My guess is that the casinos will make a lot of money off of these wannabes and not even worry about their rules.

This group did very well with comps but eventually lost most of their winnings.
