    Brian: Progressive betting

Do progressive betting strategies work? Are there any published findings that give proof either way?

I'm new and I don't want to get scammed.

    Thanks,

    Brian

Yes. Plenty of published proof showing they don't work.

Don't fall into the progressive betting traps and that will at least be a decent start. Buy one of the many Blackjack books, recommended on this site, and you will be making the right progress.

Progressive betting strategies work just great - for the casinos. No betting progression can turn a negative expectation game into a positive one. If the games could be beaten with a simple betting progression, the casinos would not exist.

Any "system" that relies on a betting progression is a scam.

Progressions have been around as long as gambling. For a more detailed discussion, see the link below.

And please, let's not have any discussions involving absurdities such as infinite bankrolls and games with no table limits.

Sometimes the uneducated BJ player, watching a cardcounter is thinking, that the counter is also plying with a progression. But this is a wrong description of his/her playingstyle. He/she only is raising a bet, when there is an edge over the house.

Sun Runner: Thanks, that was crystal clear.

I'm fairly certain I spotted an error in line 9 but I'll let it go as I don't think it effects the end result.
