David Spence: Off topic EOR question

What are the EORs in Three Card Poker?

More specifically: the optimal strategy in TCP is to play with a Q64 or higher and to fold everything else. Frequently, however, you can see other players' cards. I'm wondering what effect this has on the optimal strategy. For example, if you see that the player next to you has a pair of aces, the minimum staying hand would be something lower than a Q64. Exactly how does seeing an excess of kings and aces affect the minimum staying requirement in TCP?

Stanley Ko wrote a book analyzing the game. I believe you can get it at Amazon. As I remember, it doesn't make much difference how many other player cards you can see. He does show some deviations from optimal when seeing x number of other players' cards but the bottom line, according to Ko, is that you cannot get a positive EV no matter how many other players' cards you can see. You can reduce the house vig but not erase it completely. It is a different story if you can see even just one of the dealer's cards -something on the order of 3.84% positive seeing just one - but don't hold me to that. I haven’t look at the book in quite a while.

Short answer: Not NEARLY enough to overcome the house edge. Not even close.

Thanks for the reference. I ordered Ko's Mastering Three Card Poker from LVA (Amazon was out).
