David Spence: For Don: Optimal Betting Strategy for MA

What is the optimal betting strategy for Multi-Action tables?

    Here are the specifics:
    6D, S17, DAS, LS, RSA, 80% pen

The player is permitted to make up to three bets on each MA hand. The player's cards and the dealer's upcard are the same for all three spots, but the dealer's down and hit cards may differ among the three spots.

Only a one-unit bet is permitted on each of the three MA spots, and up to six separate hands are allowed. This provides a potential spread of 1-18, and no cover is required.

    Closely related questions:
What is the covariance between spots on a MA hand?

How is the variance calculated for the purpose of determining optimal betting strategy? That is, is a flat bet used to calculate this variance, then a betting ramp is derived from this? Or is it iterative: a betting ramp is supposed, using its true variance, then the betting ramp is adjusted until no further improvements are possible?

The best that I can do for you is to direct you to BJA3, pp. 38-39, for a discussion that will answer at least some of your questions.

You do have the book, right?

Thanks for the reference. I realize that a more detailed answer is a lot of effort for a minimal gain over what you've already presented in your book.
