    SOTSOG: Ceasars Palace LV .

Ceasars Palace Las Vegas has made all their shoe games restricted doubling to D10/D11 only. I understand Harrahs will be changing the name from Ceasars Palace to Clydes Doublewide trailer.

No, I don't think so. Just the ones in the back casino.

Possible! I never thought I'd live to see the day that CP would be turned into a downtown-like, sawdust-joint dump. It's a sad, sad day. Someone ought to grab Gary Loveman by the balls and squeeze very, very hard.

It is worse than that in the back casino. There is also no DAS and no RSA, this is on top of the fact that they were already H17. In the front casino, they took away the re-splitting of aces and are hitting a soft 17 where before they did not.

You can't squeeze Loveman by the balls, because he has too much lard on to find them. But in "fairness" to him, he views it as pricing a product - if that price would not clear the market, he would cut the price (make the games more liberal) but he looks at the price elasticity and realizes it make financial sense to raise the price, so can you blame him? I blame the idiots playing it not him.

It is sad and our Wall Street friends are to blame for this too - they had consolidation, they made the casino indistry an ogligopoly in a way. The ex-CEO of Harrah's Phil Satre who preceded Loveman and hired Loveman out of Harvard told me years ago this was the plan, if they consolidate they can be less competitive - now before you think anti-trust, here is the problem, it really does not matter - because there is still choice, but people don't use it. The Palms has much looser video poker than the Rio and by extension even their regular slot product is looser - they are down the block from one another - you can walk from one to the other and oh by the way so does the Gold Coast have looser VP, so why are people playing at Rio? because they are indifferent to the price - even with choice they buy the more expensive product because they like the frills of Total Rewards.

I must know at least a dozen people who used to only stay at Caesars. Most of them returned once or twice after Harrah's bought PPE and now none of them even walk into Caesars anymore.
These people are not (except for 1) advantage players but they are green and black chip blackjack players and $1 and $5 Video Poker players.
I actually think Harrah's not only did not mind losing these people but encouraged their leaving. Comp changes, game changes, host changes and though the building looked the same to them, the place was different.
What Harrah's is famous for is what Loveman and crew's plan must have been. Seems all their diamond and other high status players from non Vegas casinos get tons of mailers and many of these are for Caesars. So they fill the place up with people who do not know what a good game is or people who will give up a free game for the status of a club membership that gets them a line pass and a lounge just for them. If it works, you can not blame Harrah's for correctly understanding their customers and understanding that many of the old Caesars customers do not fit that profile.
