I was listening to a radio show got wind of some kind of Scoblete product call the "Speed Count".
Does anyone know what it is?
Without knowing anything about it, I'll guess that it is the tired old A-5 count.

Mr. Fuchs, I just wanted to let you know that I enjoyed reading your KO book. Devising a counting system which incorporates betting and playing decisions in RC mode while losing little in power is brilliant! Any thoughts on this simulation study comparing Hi-Lo vs KO?

Speed Count is a variation of Jake Smallwood's Qwik Count from 1988. You count only small cards and then balance by subtracting the number of players and the dealer each round. Unfortunately, the hype has been way, way overblown. It is about 35% as effective as KO.

Thank you for the compliments. BTW, please call me "Ken", we'll have none of this "Mr. Fuchs" nonsense around here.
I took a quick glance at the study. It is in-line with my position. I have always said that hi-lo was technically a little better than KO, but that KO has several practical advantages.

Interesting. The person on the radio talking about the system was, I think, Jean the comp queen. They seem to suggest that the delta between speed count and KO is about the same as the delta between KO and Hi-Lo. Oh well.

The delta between SC and KO-F is about infinitely larger than the delta between KO-F and HiLo.
