Too long to get into this whole discussion yet again, which has dragged on for years. David is, indeed, adamant in his viewpoint, but that's because he makes the erroneous assumption that one player playing two hands is much faster than two players playing one hand, which is just plain silly.
In addition, there have been counter-studies, indicating that, with shuffle time and actual playing time factored into the equation, playing two hands while alone at the table is no better than playing one.
Again, we're talking about making optimal bets all the time. naturally, it's better to play 2 x 75 than 1 x 100, if there are more players at the table.

I will stick to playing one hand when alone, two optimal hands with others at the table, unless ODP has been reached and I exit, or if the double min rule is in effect, one hand below +2 and two at or above +2,(if I can get away with going back and forth).

Sounds good to me. Consider the always-two-hands approach also from a camouflage point of view. Switching back and forth can raise eyebrows.
