Wildcard: one hand or two?

Under what conditions is it better to play two hands vs one and vice versa? The game is SD, H17, DOA, NDAS. Conditions are sometimes one on one, but mostly at least two other players. Unfortunately, the "one bettor" pops in and out. Penetration is 70%, occasionally better.

My top bet is $200.

Would it be better to find a DD game allowing DAS?

I'm referring to the one or two hands issue.

My suggestion is to order a copy today if you don't already have one.

He has done all the leg work for you, and you need not listen to opinions.

Actually, in the Blackjack world, the worse thing you could have is an opinion.

Wildcard says that penetration is 70% and occasionally better but It isn't clear if penetration is set by shuffle card or rounds dealt in the game he mentions. If by rounds dealt ( eg. Ro7 or Ro6) there are additional considerations. In many cases playing a second hand will reduce the total number of cards seen which may outweigh the advantage of playing two hands. I believe that in most cases it is better to play one hand than two in SD but it depends on the number of rounds dealt and players at the table. I don't think this is discussed in Don's book but I could be wrong - it is a big book.

DAS won't make a big enough difference to make the DD game better than the SD game assuming the same conditions and double the spread. Norm's CVCX Online site is pretty good for making these kind of comparisons. Of course the CVCX software would be even better.

If you are playing a hand-held game and you spread to 2 hands in advantageous situations you are simply begging to be backed off. At the Paris it took them 21 minutes to toss me ~ and I was spreading from 1 hand of one unit to 2 hand aof 2 units at a two-decker. This is the voice of experience.
