barzfoo: Missing appendix in blackjack attack?

    I'm a little confused ...

I'm reading Blackjack attack 3rd edition (Hardcover, page 458-459, Appendix A, Table A65 and A66. It seems that the complete EV index for 6D H17 doesn't show the values for the dealer upcard or 7, 8, 9 , and T (6D S17 does, as does the EV''s for 1,2,4, and 8 deck games).... am I missing something? or just reading it all wrong? Table A65 is for 6D H17 Dealer has a 6 ... next table A66 starts at 8D S17: Dealer have an Ace ...

I could tease you a little and ask you to keep thinking, but I won't let you dangle.

When the dealer has upcards of 7, 8, 9, or T, it's very hard for him to have a soft 17!! :-) So, any such charts are identical to the S17 ones and would be superfluous.

Deep down, you really knew that, right? :-)

Nope, didn't occur to me until you mentioned it (but I do understand it)... My wife says I'm often a moron; I'm starting to believe it.

If you are reading Don's book then you are certainly not a moron. You are already familiar with basic strategy and card counting, which is more than most blackjack players (ploppies) ever accomplish in their lifetimes. The fact that you already know enough about the game to be studying the advances aspects makes you stand out as a genius who Wongs in on the morons.

However, I agree that posting on this website can make you feel a bit foolish sometimes. I've certainly asked my share of questions and received ridiculously simple answers (complete with corrected spellings and all!).

    -Sonny-

P.S.-Why are you listening to your wife in the first place?! =)
