    Cut Card in Pitch Games

As I understood, in shoe games, a player is offered the cut card
after shuffling and usually must cut off at least one deck (52 cards).
    For instance, you can divide a six-deck pack at a ratio of 1:5, 2:4, 3:3, 4:2, 5:1 decks,
    or 1.5 : 4.5 decks etc., but not at 0.5 : 5.5 decks.

How about hand-held games? Is the player offered a cut card here, too?
And in what region is it allowed to place the cut card?

In a double deck game, if the rule "the cut card must be placed at a distance of
at least one deck (52 cards) off the end of the pack in both directions" holds,
you must cut the pack exactly in the middle (1 deck to the left and 1 deck
to the right of the cut card), am I right?

In a single deck game, I assume the player is not offered
a cut card when a fixed number of rounds is dealt.
But when a cut card is used, where does the player
cut the deck? Obviously, you could place the cut card
only a half-deck from both ends of the pack.

I've had many DD dealers that simply don't care how many cards I cut. I've also had dealers that are very strict and will continue to make you re-cut until they are happy. Flash's answer is in the right area though.

You do us all a disservice by perpetuating the concept that this should be a standard.

Single deck you must usually cutoff at least 10 cards from either end, Double Deck it's usually 26 cards from either end

There is no set rule, while playing last weekend I cut from 1/2 to 10 cards, to the middle, not a word said. Pen was 75%.

Playing at this venue, DD, where I was just slipped out of a tresspass 2 years ago, felt so good I thought I was gonna have an O

That all sounds really good (cutting flexibility and 75% pen at DD, wow).
But for shoe games, cutting is usually at least 1 deck, I assume?

When I cut a double-deck too thin once (maybe 5-6 cards), I had the dealer tell me I have to cut at least a deck from either end. With such limitations, I'm not completely certain why they bothered even giving me the cut card.

I have been told I have to cut at least one and a half deck away from the top or the bottom of a 6 decks. But at the same casino, some dealer let me just cut ONE card from the top. It really depends how friendly the dealer is.

Many dealers are by the book, others...

At least he did not say you have to cut off at least 4 decks from either end in this 6 deck pack...
