In a real US casino, does the dealer get his upcard or holecard first?
I tried to check this in two scenes of the movie "21",
namely when Ben Campbell is tested in the Chinese
underground casino and when he plays his very first
session as a big player in LV (in the Red Rock casino).
I have the impression that the dealer initially draws both cards face down,
but turns his first card upside when drawing his second card,
and then places the first card face up on top of the second card,
which remains face down and is thus the holecard.
The same effect could be achieved easier by just
drawing the first card face up, and then drawing
the second card (face down) to the side or
underneath the first card.
Is this true? Or does it depend on the casino?
