    ES: New Simulation Software

BJ777 is available from www.aceandten.com. Does anyone know anything about this program?

    Norm Wattenberger: Yep

I've been ignoring the ads for this; but will answer here since you asked. If you look at the CVData features page, then you will see essentially a list of what BJ777 does not support. There is a reason for this. When I wrote the features list, I omitted the features other simulators have. I could only find one feature in the CVData list supported by BJ777; the ability to support different strategies for each seat. However, BJ777 does not have CVData's 'remove seat effect' feature so it can't actually test multiple strategies against each other in one sim. The ads claim it can simulate any rule and any strategy. Not slightly close to either. In fact, it only supports very common strategies. I don't make any such claim even though CVData supports custom bonuses and a very long list of methods not supported by BJ777. In fact, the concept is silly.

I did find one interesting bit. They are selling a 'business' version for $500. This includes 10 licenses and the ability to publish results. (They state that they want to become the standard for publishing) I assume they are marketing to casinos since there is no reason for any player to buy 10 licenses. As for the ability to publish results, the CVData license allows this without any additional fee. In fact, the license states you can use the data any way you wish including creating a competing product. The point is moot anyhow. If I sell you a calculator, I can't demand that you pay me a fee if you publish calculated numbers.

    ES: It only makes sense.

"If I sell you a calculator, I can't demand that you pay me a fee if you publish calculated numbers."

I suppose that softwware developers who would limit use of results generated only want to get others to buy the product, i.e. they would want other players to buy their program and test the playing strategies with the program, rather than read published results in a book whose author used the program to obtain the results he published. You are a gentleman about such things. I only wanted to get more info on BJ777.
