    Rockky: split 9s vs 9

I was recently asked if I wanted to keep or withdrow my bet, after a dealer misdeal. I had two 9s and the dealer had 9. I instinctively chose to withdraw my bet. Was that correct? The count was around 0.

    Titan5: Correct!

This is a negative ev game. The supposed correct play, SPLIT, has ev of about -0.08. By withdrawing your ev is zero which is much better than losing 8%. You've made a good choice.

I always thought the correct play after a misdeal was for the dealer to pay everyone. Has this changed? Am I just being innocent again? What's up?

The noticed mistakes that have occurred while playing are always at the discretion of the Pit management. Sometimes it involves paying the customers bets, but not always. Often a player is given a choice to withdraw or continue.
