PM, you must have seen my act about going with my "feelings." I use that to cover a lot of my plays.

    > As for splitting 10s, can't help you...I'm
    > not an idiot...

Never said you were--and you are right, only counters and idiots split 10's, so let's try to make them believe we are idiots rather than counters! ;-) We're on the same side, really.

PS--Just had the unpleasant experience of getting scolded by 3rd base for my play in the middle. Hey, it paid me $500, I could care less what crappy cards she was getting. I'll pass it on in the chat or on a private board later.

Good for you, you won $500 and that is all that counts. Contrary to ploppy beliefs, I know for a fact that blackjack is NOT A TEAM SPORT! I know this because never has a teammate paid part of my losses and I have never shared my wins. Stay with your game, break it perhaps sometimes for cover but never ever change it to just apease a bunch of people who do know how to play the game.

Apparently in Europe a lot of pressure is placed on the person sitting in third base. As you are the last to play before the dealer turns his cards over, everyone on the table expects you to try and bust the dealer. I?ve also faced this at the tables and received abuse from other players.

Before Christmas I went to Prague. They play this same tactic in their casinos. I thought I?d play it safe and move from third base. The German man in first base started to shout across the table at me and then looked like her wanted to kill me.

In short, possibly the best option is to move seats.

    Good Luck.

Maybe you misunderstood my point on the "idiot" thing. That point was that you felt he had some good cover because he split 10s and looked like an "idiot". I challenged that STATEMENT because he also said that he hit soft 18 v 10, hardly a play an idiot would pull off.

Taken together, I'm not so sure he had any cover if they were watching his play.

And, you're right, "Feelings" is something the pit likes to hear.

My response if any would be. Lady/Mister what is the name of the book you wrote. Most of them say I didn't write any book. I would then reply well you should, you seem to know so much about nothing.

Quite right. I've had a dealer sneer at me for hitting A-7 vs. her 10. Judging from the look on her face, she must have thought I was a hopeless fool.

Many dealers also subscribe to common gambling myths such as the notion that players should bet according to hot/cold streaks, and (mostly when players are winning and he/she wants a tip) that the dealer can systematically influence what cards are dealt.

Ralph, though I have read most of the good books out there I never mention "the book." When asked, I say I don't know anything about a book but I have this card from a gift shop that I use. You mean someone actually wrote a book about blackjack? Sounds pretty booring to me.
