WallStRunoff: Most Units Won in One Session?

Whats the most units you have won in one session?

    - how long did it take?
    - what game and rules?
    - any other interesting side plots?

Since some of you have been playing for a long time, I am interested to here your tales.

    Cheers,
    WSR

    suicyco maniac: not exactly....

...What your looking for but a few years back I was playing an 6.75/8 deck game with 3 other players wonging out at minus 1 but only after a losing hand...anyway about 1 deck in to the shoe the count tanks but I keep winning one unit after one unit..the true count got down to -7 at one point but it wasn't until we were down to about 3 rounds before the cut card that I finally lost a hand..by this time the count had risen back up to just slightly above zero so I stuck around and waited for the shuffle. As for most units in a session I am sure I could have had some big wins but I usually run away if I start to get up too much before I get a chance to rub it in the casinos face... SM

I did 200 units in a 3 hour session. I used a team member who was catching HC's and doing side counting, worked well. Also had a dealer who was doing alot of "tells". It was a fun session.

I got 100 units in 4 hours, but I wasn't using anything nearly as advanced as Ouchez, just straight counting. I also had a 73 unit win in 2 hours.

My biggest trip win was 200 units after 12 hours of play. Yeah, I've been pretty darn lucky over the years!

If these types of stories interest you, as they do most us, I'm sure, you may be interested in a back-issue of Blackjack Forum themed "Wins and Losses: True Tales from the Trenches." The issue is packed with exactly these kinds of stories, written first-hand by more than 20 players, including Tommy Hyland, James Grosjean, Bob Loeb, and other well-known players.

If anyone would like a copy of this issue, it's just $7.50, which includes US first-class postage. You can email me with your payment info or send in payment by mail, whichever you prefer. You won't believe some of these stories, like the guy who won, and then lost, $100,000 in a single weekend! Very fun reading!

I had a 100 unit session last year on a Louisiana river boat. 1.5 hours on a $5 CSM (6D,DAS,DOA,RSA,no Sur.) I was leaving casino to check out of hotel after being down $500 for two days. Made one last stop at a crowded CSM table. Won first six or seven hands in a row. Dealer was busting frequently. I made my share of doubles and splits while seeing a few BJ's too. Just wish I had used a larger unit!

Can't say for sure about most units won, but I could tell you exactly most units lost!! Funny how that works.

I may be one of the more crazy blackjack players here. I won $5000 in an afternoon once ($25 units). I won this in some of the midwestern casinos. After that afternoon, I thought I was on my way to a million dollars. My best win at one table was $2200 on a H17 DD table. I was on fire and not giving a crap. My next visit back to that same casino....I lasted 5 minutes before I had a visit from the casino manager. He took my card and told me I couldn't play blackjack anymore. Then he gave it back to me and I told him that I really didn't need the card now since its no good anymore. I still play blackjack but I play poker now too. Look for me at some of the online No Limit games. Blackjack is like a No Limit Poker game.

Twenty years ago I was up 500 units in 45 minutes. And... I wasn't even counting back then or knew basic strategy. I was just a 22 yr old sailor in port for four days.

I just knew. It's the only way to describe it, but I knew. I guess I was subconsciously counting, but at a level I never knew before (or since). I knew when to bet big, when to cut back. There was no pattern to my betting. I just knew whether I was going to win the next hand or lose. And I was right about 95% of the time.

I was even so cocky that I told the dealer "well, if I stand on my 14, you'll get 20 or 21. If I hit, I will bust, but so will you. If I'm going to lose no matter what, I might as well let the rest of the table win, so hit me." And, coincidently, that is exactly how it happened. (That was when the heat started glaring at me). But I had a dinner date (now at a very very nice restaurant) so left before I was 86'd or started losing.

Since then I have learned that I hit the once in a lifetime standard deviation in my favor. It could easily have turned out brutally different. After a couple of sessions where I did lose several hundred units, I educated myself on advantage play.

I've had some good days and some bad days since then, but never anything as sweet as that afternoon.
