Ouchez: Look at it this way, SR, dear friend.

    No, it was bad advice...

I am not a nice guy

I view the game as a WAR in which I only owe allegiance to my teammates or friends. All others are expendable. I know this is not what you wanted to hear, but it is the cold truth.

    > Strength and "Honor" (as you say)

Yes, same to you, "Strength and Honor"

Cards is cards. You never know, it goes both ways. What dumb moves do to me is break my rythem (sp?) and concentration, so that I tend to either get behind in the count or misplay the next hand. Then you end up guessing.

Don't guess. If you lose the count, just play basic strategy and bet your usual minimum bet until the shuffle. Better yet, take a bathroom break. You can lose a lot of money by guessing wrong.

    I can handle the truth.

I have long believed that anybody who is willing to stand up and gamble their money ought to know what's going on before they do. It ain't a picnic, it's gambling. That is why I have a hard time dogging out the casino art of preferential shuffling.

You and I get the message and leave. The ploppies get hurt. That is their fault for being un-educated (in my opinion).

But giving bad advice, on purpose, to an innocent, may or may not get the desired result .. and I sure can't see the honor in it.

Now Poker on the other hand .....

    Good day my friend.

Agreed. While I give advice reluctantly, and only when asked, I would never deliberately give bad advice to another player. It's not a war, it's a friggin' game, for crying out loud.

    > Now Poker on the other hand .....

Indeed. Anyone stupid enough to ask the other players at the table for advice in a poker game deserves whatever happens to them. "Go ahead, go all in. We're all bluffing."

Funniest and luckiest thing just this weekend.

It is the team sport thing. I am at third base with a pair of 9's against a dealer stiff. Everyone else on the table has stayed with stiffs while I split to the tune of two guys yelling at me NO!!!!
Bingo, I get a third 9, then a 2 and double and hit 21, then an A for 20 and another 2, double and hit an 8 for 19. Dealer turns 14, hits a 4 and wipes the table while I win 5 bets. Three people get up and leave me with the dealer who comments saying, "I think you made the right play." More proof that I am just a bad bad, very bad team player.
Oh, the count also got very good for most of the remainder of the shoe and the cards fell properly.

Of course this was at an Indian Casino where basic strategy seems to only be known to me.
