harry: california blackjack
other than the indian casinos in palm springs area (which offer vegas rules) do you know anything about the "21st century blackjack" offered in some california casinos like hustler casino and commerce casino? are these games worth playing if i can't make it to vegas or palm springs? from what i've heard the joker card is used and there is no house dealer.
does anyone know more on this?

There is a house dealer, just not a house banker. The games are "player-banked," although this does not mean that just anyone can walk into a casino with a suitcase full of money and bank the games.
The game bears only a scant resemblance to conventional blackjack, with play going to 22 instead of 21, the jokers you mentioned being used, and a busted hand not automatically losing. The casinos make money by charging a per-hand commission, greatly increasing the odds against you.
Bottom line: A waste of time and money, especially with real blackjack only a short drive away. If you must play these casinos, learn how to play poker.
