    SOTSOG: Standard Deviation

Looking at the new Chapter 10 charts of 3rd Edition Blackjack Attack and see the SD for all the games is broken down by count. Nice touch.

But then I had a question, about the overall SD.
Where can I find or calculate SD for off-the-top flat betting the following games?

    1D S17 DAS
    1D H17 DAS
    6D S17 DAS
    6D H17 DAS

If any one can point me to the SD figures I would appreciate it.

Line by line, for each game you're interested in, square each S.D. to get the variances for each true count. Multiply horizontally, by the corresponding frequencies, line by line. When you're done, add, then take the square root of your answer. That will be the flat-bet standard deviation for the game.

Yes, I was trying to avoid firing up the excel spreadsheet ;>)

Guess I'll have to earn my money the hard way.

Sorry. It never occurred to me that there would be much use for this statistic, but maybe it's something I ought to consider.

SOTSOG: Could be very easy after all.

This is for use on online games where they shuffle after every hand.

Could I just use the SD from the count = 0 line of the chart? It doesn't seem like I should be factoring in +5,+6, etc. SD's when you can't get a count like that in one hand.

Yes! That would work just fine. Now that I know you're not playing through the deck, your way is perfect.
