soft17: Hole carding advantage
During my last trip to LV I noticed that I could see the hole card at a particular DD H17 DAS game 90% of the time when a particular dealer was dealing. And I was about 80% accurate. I was 100% accurate in distinguishing faces from low cards. The only error was in distinguishing 8s through Ts.
What is my advantage here flatbetting? What is the optimal basic strategy I should be using? I was using the double exposure strategy from Basic Blackjack. Is this good enough? The game is pretty useless for counting in general because of the 50% penetration. Can I still increase my advantage by counting (strategy variation maybe)?
I have not done hole carding before. How can I practice for it? Any considerations for camo? The pit was in general unintersted and the 50% pen says the rest.
Can I trade this information for other valuable hole carding/advantage play opportunities?
Any and all help is highly appreciated.
Thanks,
Soft17.

Depending on how aggressively you play, probably around 8-10%.

Read Ken Uston's "Million Dollar Blackjack" for the answers to all of these questions (and more). He has a whole chapter on how to make the most of an opportunity like this.
