    OUCHEZ: Tales from the felt...

Recently, while playing a rather good game, I noticed that the players at 1st and 3rd seemed to know each other and were varying their bets considerably. I thought they may be using some sort of count or advantage play but was not sure as to what they were up to. The 3rd basemen seemed very proud of knowing how many aces were yet to be played out and delighted in telling me, I acted impressed, .

I soon realized that they were not raising according to the count but seemed to be making big jumps in negative counts. I was intriqued as to what they were doing. They played good BS and were up alot at one point but in time lost all their chips and the following re-buys. I kept winning, slowly but surely playing a very skilled and disciplined game.

Late in the evening these two guys walk by and congratulate me on my win and I start a conversation which leads to them telling me their game plan. I almost fall off my chair when I hear it! Keep in mind these guys are serious when they explain and proud too.

Their plan of ATTACK was to count the aces until most, if not all, were gone and then make a big upward swing in their bets, BECAUSE THEY WOULD NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THE DEALER GETTING A BJ!!!

Holy s**t, can you believe that? They lost all their money but still thought they had found a great plan to win.

I had to resist the temptation to give them some advice but did take their addresses to send them a copy of Don's new book, they need it, for sure and for certain!

BTW, I am here in Chicago and have hit a few of the casinos and found them wanting, to the extreme, not impressed at all. But then again I have been spoiled by some fine games in other places.

    Regards,
    Ouchez.

You would think that pointing out the simple fact they get 3:2 on their bet when they win, and the dealer merely wins 1 bet, would give them reason to think.

    Gotta love 'em.

So why do the casinos give us heat and deal such crappy games again?

Now we'll see a big ad in front of the casino saying No dealer BJs. We have removed all the Aces so the dealer can't get a BJ.

Just because someone has the ability to get some information (# of aces) does not mean that they have any idea of how to put that information to use. The casinos have little to fear, thank the blackjack Gods for ploppyies.

They are awful, aren't they. There's one good place and it's not even in Il.

Best of luck - you might want to try Hollywood

Stingray: something like that goes on in the UK

Cant split 4s or 5s ,that is actually a government law to "protect" people, can only insure dealer BJs(suppose that one helps the plops).
although the government have no problem with people spending a fortune on the national lottery.

    Stingray,

So what happens if you insure and the dealer DOESN'T have a BJ... do you get your money back? That WOULD be great for the ploppies, not to mention everyone else except the house!

It was stated incorrectly. In the UK, the PLAYER may take insurance only when HE has a natural.

BJTF is an advantage player site based on the principles of comity. That is, civil and considerate behavior for the mutual benefit of all involved. The goal of advantage play is the legal extraction of funds from gaming establishments by gaining a mathematic advantage and developing the skills required to use that advantage. To maximize our success, it is important to understand that we are all on the same side. Personal conflicts simply get in the way of our goals.
