Marc: level 2 balanced count
I have been reading Fred Renzey's BJ Bluebook II. It is an excellent book and contains the Mentor system which is what I am looking for - a level 2 balanced count with no Ace side count (I use Hi-Opt I but side counting is a pain).
There have been some posters in this forum that have expressed reservations about Mentor. Does anyone have an opinion on the most accurate level 2 balanced system (no side count)?
Thanks.

Your options besides the Mentor count would be Zen and the Revere Point Count. All three counts should perform in a similar manner - I don't believe that the differences between them are significant.
Considering that the reference text on Zen, Arnold Snyder's Blackbelt In Blackjack, is currently out of print, and that Revere's Playing Blackjack as a Business, (the text for the RPC) is badly dated (albeit a classic), I think you're making an excellent choice.
By counting the 9, the Mentor count gives up a little in Insurance Correlation, but gains a bit in Playing Efficiency.
If I get a chance over the holiday, I will run some sims to see just how the three systems compare. Again, I will be greatly surprised if the differences amount to much. These are all excellent counts and any one of them will get the job done.
