    charlie_t_jr: Single 21?

I ran a search of messages on "Single 21". Came up with a couple of posts dealing with SuperFun 21, from 2001. Is this the same? I came across this game at Ballys in Tunica, called "Single 21". I sat down not realizing the different rules, when I hit a bj, got paid even money. Dealer handed me a set of rules for the game. Its SD, DOA, DAS, surrender, 6 card hands won or was paid extra(don't remember), suited bj paid 3 to 2, but other bj even money.

The Pit Boss said the other rules more than made up for the bj payoff(ofcourse she would say that!).

Anyone familiar with this game? Is it worth playing? My gut feeling was no, so I promptly got up.

It is worse than you think. I believe the off the top disadvantage of SuperFun is somewhere around 2%. Horrible considering typical single deck is around 0.2%.

She was either ignorant or lying through her teeth. The odds favor the latter.

NO, it is NOT the same game. SF21 has a different basic strategy that you would need to learn. Even then, you would be playing at about a 3% disadvantage. Don't waste your time.

    Parker: SF21

This game, commonly known as SuperFun 21 has an off-the-top house advantage of .94%. Furthermore, this assumes that one plays perfect basic strategy for this game, which is considerably different from "real" single deck basic strategy.

To put this in perspective, an 8 deck shoe game with the dealer hitting soft 17 and double after split not allowed (in other words, really bad rules) has an off-the-top house advantage of .79%.

The even-money blackjack payout is a killer.

However, this game is not as bad as the short-pay single deck games becoming more common on the strip, in which the casino shorts the player on the blackjack payout, paying 6:5 instead of the usual 3:2, and not giving much of anything in return. This ripoff game has a house edge of 1.5% - 2%, depending on the other rules.

These are sucker games, to be avoided.

Single 21 and Super Fun 21 are actually slightly different, but the advice you've gotten here applies pretty well to both games.
