    Unbelievable.

Other responders had already talked about violating copyright, so my response? ...

It upsets me that people do that. I don't read every post so I missed this one. I would have deleted it, but it would leave orphan posts, so instead I made a response. I will delete posts I see that advocate copyright violations.

In the future, please notify me of these posts at [email protected] so that i can remove them, edit them, or respond to them more quickly. It would be appreciated.

The fact is you shouldn't steal copy righted material copy, much less advertise the intent to do it over a public forum.

The reality is if someone showed up in my office with those out of print articles, I would run straight to my copy machine and burn a set for me; and probably give a set to the next friend of mine that asked for them.

Rhetorich - " .. me thinks thou doth protest to much."

If you can tell me you've never ripped a music CD, never installed copyrighted software on your computer, or copied parts or all of a copyrighted manuscript for your own personal use, I owe you an apology.

If not, Stingray probably is owed one.

Not for being stupid and advertiseing his intent on BJ21 -but for others acting a bit "holier than thou."

I for one haven't done this. Over the last month, about 50% of my time has been spent fighting software pirates. Among other efforts, I had to go through the effort, disruption and cost to move my website. I also had to make modifications to all my programs, many of my web pages, invest in new protection software, enter hundreds of IP numbers to bar access, and write dozens of letters to various IPs. All of this time I could have used in productive work. But it is wasted on thieves. Napster has turned an entire generation into criminals and none of these bastards went to prison. Violators of intellectual property rights belong in prison - period.

I KNEW that response was coming!

I applaud you for your honesty and integrity regarding the music.

First of all -prison? Probably not; big fines and penalties, I absolutely agree.

Copying out of print magazine articles? I'm not really to worked up by that.

I'm getting ready to place an order for Casino Veritie (seriously). I hope it's still available -to me.

What does a bank-robber do? He steals paper. Green paper. Very few bank robberies involve any weapons and are non-violent. Yet, these people do hard time. What is the difference?

So many people tried to steal my software in the last two months I was over 60 times my allowed bandwidth on my website and had to shut it down for a time. After the expense and battles over the last months against software pirates, I have little sense of humor on the subject.

I wasn't trying to be funny. Only friendly.

I see a marked difference in copying a few out of print magazine articles (my original and only post/example) .. and bank robbery.

Most bank robberies turn out to be non violent due to the actions of those being robbed, not those doing the robbing.

I also see a marked difference in somebody knocking off a Springsteen album from Napster and someone hacking your system.

The ramifications of each are totally different, and so go the penalties.

I purchased it, for one. Worth every penny.

This doesn't make sense to me, it seems like anyone not willing to put the effort in to pay for the software wouldn't be willing to put the effort in to make having this particular software worthwhile!

I mean, frankly, this isn't the most exciting stuff to play with. It's not like Tomb Raider or something...
