Battery: Does this make Michael Jordan a ploppy?

News item from the Chicago Suntimes

Hopefully he got a good loss rebate. If he would learn to count...spread say 1-3 so that he plays an even game coupled with say a 15% rebate on his losses he'd have a nice edge over the casino.

At least he can take comfort knowing AOL lost 100,000 times that much last year.

Moose: You tell Michael Jordan to bet $50 on 80% of hands

.. and you'll see why most celebrities don't bother counting. There's literally nothing to win for them.

Now as for not learning proper basic strategy, well, there's no excuse.

I'm beginning to think ol' MJ has the right tipping strategy, IE $0, based on his nickname of "Hoardin' Jordan" and his friend "No-tippin' Pippin."

With his wealth, even making ploppy plays he's probably playing at a 2% Risk of Ruin. :-)

If he was betting $5K on each of three hands to that large a loss, he has a gambling problem. It's one thing for Larry Flynt to carry on in this manner. He has to live in a wheelchair. But Jordan? People with gambling problems can read every BJ book written and learn every strategy developed. But when they are on the wrong side of the curve, most likely they will just start betting as high as they can in frustration. I don't want to psychoanalyze anyone from afar; but many people with gambling problems also subconsciously want to lose. I had a friend that papered his office with old markers - many in the tens of thousands.

From what i've heard, not just from this incident, MJ's a big time problem gambler. Any game at all he plays he seems to lose at. Or Maybe he's just that counter at -3 standard Deviations to make up for me being at +3... lol.

But this isn't the first story about MJ's gambling i've heard. Must be tough.

Don't know about AC, but he was often spotted at the Horseshoe in Tunica when the Wizards had to play in Memphis.
