In the Spring or Summer 1999 BJF I wrote an article on converting ace reckoned balanced counts to unbalanced ace-neutral counts. This simplifies the ace adjustment. The system will work if you wish to use the ace reckoned count as the primary count. The article covers the HiLo, Revere Point Count and Wong's Halves. The info is off a bit becuase when I wrote the article I did not know about equivilent balanced counts or the SCORE system. The method is sound however.

In a nutshell, simply subtract the number of remaining aces from the HiLo running count, then perform your TC conversion for playing decisions. You should generate new indices for the count (Ace thru T): 0,1,1,1,1,1,0,0,0,-1. Alternatively, you may subtract 4 from the HiLo indices you are using now, which will be pretty close. Doing this will improve PE to about 0.61 (HiLo = about 0.51) and IC to about 0.87 (HiLo = about 0.76).

Example, HiLo insurance index is +3. Index with ace adjustment is -1. So, if running count is 0 and no aces remain, take insurance. Another example, 2 deck game, running count is +6, 1 deck left, all aces remain. 6 - 8 = -2, adjusted TC is -2, do not take insurance.

While there is no 'book' on Hi-Opt II, the Hi-Opt II report is still available. It's about 33 pages and contains info on Ace side-counting as well as full multi-parameter tables. The included betting info is way out of date.
