    q: Professional blackjack career?

I was curious as to if being a professional blackjack player can really be a good living. I would like to hear from any professionals that could give me some insight, and if you think it is a good career than how do you take steps to becoming good enough? How much money do you make per year? Everything that could help. Thanks alot

have never played against an 8-deck shoe. The casino I go to only has 2 and 6 deck shoes. I am just wondering about stories and what kind of success professionals have had and if it is possible to make a large income just playing blackjack?

Can an eight deck shoe be beaten? Yes, certainly. An eight deck shoe is no more difficult to count down than a six deck shoe.

Can I personally beat an eight deck shoe? Probably, although I've never tried. I've always been able to find better games in the areas where I play.

There are far better ways to make a buck than playing blackjack but, if you are persistent, hard-working and able to recognize and learn from your mistakes, then you can make a living at it. I've been a professional "gambler" for all of two years, so I'm not the most experienced wiseguy out there, but I can tell you that it has its good and bad points and it isn't for everyone. If it's something you are considering doing for a living, as your curiosity suggests, you should take it up as a parttime "job" first and see how things go.

By the way, you definitely need to know at least one of the many ways to beat an 8-deck shoe before you consider becoming a professional.
