Christopher A. Morgan: Casino Verite Software/Customer Service

    Casino Verite Software/Customer Service

I am not affiliated , whatsoever, with Norman Wattenberger, author of the two blackjack programs, Casino Verite Blackjack, the playing program, and CVData, the new simulations program. Further I have never met him or had any type of contact with him, other than described here. The purpose of this posting is to tell everyone about the extraordinary customer service I received from Norm over the last couple of weeks.

Norm?s web site is www.QFIT.com where you can download free demo versions of both programs. His programs have been highly praised for the realism of the playing program and massive data of the sim program (42 separate tables, each with massive data, charts, etc.) Don Schlesinger, the well known blackjack expert/writer, who most here know of, in his recent revised edition of the book Blackjack Attack (year 2000 edition), praised the programs very highly is his acknowledgments section.

I guess I could be called a power user. For more than 13 years I have been a very heavy PC user, both for business - spreadsheets, word processing, tax, legal research, etc., and pleasure - mostly chess playing and data software, and more recently, blackjack software . I probably have more than a 100 programs I use with some regularity. I am very familiar with typical software customer service.

A couple of weeks ago I bought both of Norm?s 32 bit Windows programs. They are very sophisticated and excellent programs, both visually and in what they do. Documentation is great, both in the help files and the manuals, one is 68 pages, the other a little over 100 pages. I had a little problem importing a strategy from the playing program to the sim program and fired off an email. Twenty minutes later Norm responded. I think it was a Saturday. I ran into a complicated problem and gave him a call (his phone number is in the manual). That was Sunday morning. Norm answered the phone and helped me - nothing was wrong with the program, just my use of it. Other emails back and forth on Sunday from early morning to Sunday night. Norm typically always responded within twenty minutes or so.

I gave Norm a suggestion that when we open a sim we have run that is automatically saved, we should be able to view the strategy tables used. Norm implemented that very quickly and posted an update patch on his site. Other update patches followed rapidly, re my use of small fonts and difficulty reading one table, adding ability to specify various parameters in what Norm calls his Chapter X sim program that produces tables of the results of multiple sims where you can change the various parameters of the tables and immediately see the results, such as penetration, betting tables, etc. Another problem I had was trying to get the same results as in the KO book for the full matrix system, an IBA of 1.65. Norm worked with me on that, ran his own tables, pointed out an error I had in my strategy tables, etc., and we both wound up with 1.63, close enough. I called another time at an odd hour and Norm answered and helped me out. All this over the last couple of weeks.

It was exactly like I had my own programmer, who listened to my suggestions, and immediately changed his program to accommodate me - yes, me, personally, like he had nothing else to do, day or night, weekends, didn?t matter. In fact I sent Norm an email today, Thanksgiving, and got my normal 20 minute response. It is extraordinary, to say the least. I have never experienced anything even remotely like this as far as customer service is concerned. It?s great that Norm constantly updates his patch for the sim program. It?s now #99, at least four or so in the last two weeks - and they are cumulative, of course.

I just had to publicly acknowledge and praise Norm for his extraordinary customer service.

    Chris,
I am not responding on behalf of Norm in any way, but I want to thank you for your kind comments. I, too, have had good experiences with Norm in the process of placing orders for RGE and working with him as a vendor. It is nice to know that others also appreciate Norm's dedication and experience and that RGE is associated with people of a truly professional nature. Thank you Chris, and Thank you Norm!

You can find out more about Norm's products in our online catalog under Blackjack software, and please remember to visit with Norm during our Tuesday night WB chat on November 27th at 6pm Pacific.

    Yes, yes, no, yes.

Casino Verite is practice software. It is not a simulator. You can program up to 10 "custom" counts in. It already has most of the common systems programmed into it, including AOII. It can handle an ace side count, and you can program any betting structure you want.

The program is extremely user-friendly and intuitive, plus it comes with a genuine paper user manual that is comprehensive and easy to understand. And, should you have any problems, customer service is as described above.

To run sims you need either CVSIM or the new CVCX, (also from QFIT), or SBA, by Karel Janecek. These will run sims, generate indices, etc. Most of the numbers in Blackjack Attack were generated with SBA.
