    How about asking your previous question in greater detail?!!

    > if tc is +6

    Ahem. If running count is +6!!

    > and i have 1 1/4 deck remaining, do i a) divide > +6 by 1.25 or b) divide +6 by 5 (the # of > > quarter decks left?)

    You divide it by 1.25 (see my above post). And, because that's hard to do -- quick, what's 9 divided by 1.25?! -- instead, multiply by 0.8. So, quick, now what is 9/1.25? It's 7.2! Easy!

    Not my usual: Re: BJ FOR BLOOD vs. zen

    RC = 6 and I want to convert to TC with 1.25 decks remaining.> You divide it by 1.25 (see my above post).

    I should know this but for some reason I don't. I'm not a mathie. I always attempt to do the division. How do you know to multiply by 0.8 and not some other number? Why 0.8? Why is it not by some other number?

    (sorry, that's what i meant)

    (i understand that part)

    (alright, i know you must be tired of this, but you lost me. where did 9 come from? i thought our imaginary tc was 6? and why 0.8?)

    1.25 = 1 1/4 = 5/4.

    When you divide by a fraction (5/4), the rule says to invert (turn upside-down) that fraction and then multiply.

    So, to divide by 5/4, we multiply by 4/5. But 4/5 is 0.8, in decimal form.

    Homework:
    By what should I multiply if I'm dividing by:
    a) 2.5
    b) 0.5
    c) 1.5 (round to the nearest tenth)

    I just made up another problem. I wanted it to be hard to do in your head.
