Many of you probably already know, but if not, this is important stuff if you plan on traveling outside the country anytime soon. The laws regarding what documents are necessary for travel are changing, and since they affect some places with popular casinos, I'd thought I'd sum up the changes here. These are for US residents only.

By January 8, 2007, if you fly between the US and Mexico, Canada, Bermuda, and the Caribbean, a photo ID and birth certificate will no longer be enough to get you back into the US. You must have a passport The only exceptions are those traveling to the US Virgin Islands and Peurto Rico.

By June 1, 2009, cruise passengers and anyone crossing land borders (such as a train from Canada) into the US also will need a passport.
