westtex: Costa Rica

I am thinking about taking a 2 month working vacation in costa rica. I have never played blackjack anywhere but the USA. Can anyone give me some help on table conditions in the area?

Unfortunately you can forget about playing there. There no such thing as blackjack in Costa Rica. All they have is a game called "rummy" (nothing common with gin rummy). It's a game where blackjack always paid even money. And even despite some goodies introduced, like early surrender and a bunch of bonuses on rare hands, this game have big disadvantage off the top.

I found real blackjack in one casino, tough. It was no-hole no-surrender do9-11 game with CSM.

What about any opportunities for advantage play.. Video poker?? Are anything you can think of. Thanks for your help.

i can confirm you that there is a lot of casino in san jose; but they are small places; a lot used csm other ones have a game rummy but it is not black-jack; may be you will find two or three whit black-jack but the will detect you very fast because there is not a lot of action and you will be banned; i have played only for one hour to avoid problems; so forget it

you never will get good information here. if there is anything good nobody will tell you. they may terrify you in order to keep you away. ask the casinos themselves, this is the only possibility! i will not tell you anything, too .
