    AutomaticMonkey: Limited PR trip report

My travels have taken me to three stores: a Sheraton in Humacao, the Ponce Hilton, and a place called El Casino in Old San Juan (the tourist district).

None were impressive. All 3 places dealt: 6D, no surrender, DAS, S17, with American NHC (lose original bets only). Pen varied from very bad in Humacao to playable in Old San Juan. Table limits were reasonable, crowds were moderate to small, and I couldn't see anything I could do with the shuffles.

Interesting sights in Ponce: people bring their babies to this casino and I saw a young woman swinging around on the dance floor holding her(?) baby. Then I saw something very odd: people who were obviously mentally retarded sitting down at a roulette wheel. Outside I saw a van from the local department of mental retardation that apparently brought them there on a junket! I didn't see if the retardates were actually playing roulette but shame on the people who brought them there and on the casino if they were.

Overall there is nothing attractive about these stores. There are/were places in PR that offer ES10, recommend make sure you know which ones do before coming to PR to play blackjack.

I have recently played in Puerto Rico and have to agree with Automatic Monkey that tables conditions have deteriorated a lot. I recently ?tried? to play at El Conquistador Resort and penetration was about 60%. Condado Plaza was also horrible at about 65 %. Both of this casinos were much better on my last visit. The only good game is at The Ritz but tables are full on the weekends.
Has anybody found another decent game in PR?
Are there decent games in the Dominican Republic ? I might be going there in a couple of months.

When I was last there most games had converted to 8 decks but there were a number of trackable shuffles and several casinos offering ES10. 95% of the playable casinos are in Santo Domingo. The only resort with a good game was in Boca Chica near Santo Domingo. You get less heat if you play in local currency. Bueno suerte !
