What makes UK blackjack so bad?

Is there much poker in the UK?

    Thanks in advance!

BJ is not worse than in France, Italy, Switzerland and some other countries in the West. But in none of theese countries there is any (legal) casino worth a visit.
No surrender. For me a waste of time. -0.5% or worse off the top.
Poker: I hope someone else can help you.

UK. blackjack has an expectancy of - 0.54% The dealer does not have a hole card so we lose all doubles and splits to a BJ. Doubling is restricted to 9 - 11 only and insurance is only offered for a BJ. Splitting 4,4 5,5 and 10,10 is not permitted.

The benefit is that spreads of 1 - 25 are acceptable.

    Hi there,

It's not just the bad rules. 6D (although some casinos still have 4 deck) ENHC, S17 (some hit soft 17) D9,DAS,RSA,RS2,insurance is only allowed against an Ace. Most of the casinos are fairly busy Blackjack is quite popular and you can rarely get a face up game for long, maybe an hour or so soon after they open at 2:00pm.

The cuts are also now bad usually 1.5 decks from the end. You may find one dealer who cuts less but if all the others are cutting like that is it worth it? There may be more of an opportunity for a good shuffle tracker but even then if the tables are full you won't often get to cut.

The Gaming Board is responsible in their effort to protect poor players they've made the game virtually unplayable for advantage players. A new gaming act is set to come into force next year which will double the number of casinso but I'm not sure whether this will change the rules.

    Regards,

You mean there's another kind?! Damn, can't take insurance against his 6!! :-)

What you meant to write is that insurance is permitted only when the player has a natural.

Thanks for the correction, however in Moscow they do offer insurance against a 10!

Being able to bet (with the usual 2:1 payoff) on whether the dealer had a ten in the hole regardless of the upcard could be very lucrative indeed. ;-)

At pretty pathetic odds, I might add.

It means: you are paid 2:1 if dealer gets a 10 on his 10. Insurance means: a bet if dealer gets a 10, not if he gets a natural.

My question is with them not having a hold card what does the loss in hands per hour do to your earning potential as a counter? Do you have any information on this new gaming act? Thanks
