    Ed Tice: Switzerland Conditions

I used to live in Switzerland and here's what I can tell you.

The Casino du Lac opened in Geneva on 16.09.2003. I have never been there. It is operated by the Partouche group, a French chain, so I expect it to be comparable to the casinos in France, which although not spectacular, in comparison the rest of the casinos in Switzerland (operated by Casinos Austria), seems fantastic. It is very unlikely that you will find any CSM here. I dont think any Partouche property uses them. But again, I have not been there.

The other option is Montreux. The game is marginal (6D ENHC RSA NS DA2 DAS) with two decks cut off. You can get better penetration sometimes, though. They tolerate low level counters who get along with the other customers and seem to be having fun. At higher levels, I assume they aren't so tolerant. It is crowded so forget Wonging. Also the casino closes at 3am or 4am but the next train is at 5:39! The wait at the station is not always fun. I have played at this casino a lot and had great fun. I was very conservative and didn't take a lot off of their games. I recommended it to all of my ploppy friends who lose way more than I win.

As far as I know all other casinos in Switzerland are dumps. Cover charges. Pay for drinks. No comps of any type. No entertainment. Low limits . Plus they are all CSM. Stay away. If anybody knows of any other decent game let me know.

Also if you are in Geneva, you can hop across the French border and there are lots of places to play.

I'd appreciate a report on the Geneva casino. I imagine that it will be pretty good.
