Mr.Pro: Early Surrender
Hi there,
I know the early surrender option is a highly favourable rule offering + 0.6 % to the basic strategy player. Some of the casinos I have visited in Europe where I play offer early surrender against dealer 10 only (ENHC also applies) but not against the Ace, although you may still insure.
What is the positive expectation of this rule?
Many thanks for any info you have.

Noted your post, would like to know which European casinos you have visited offer this early surrender option. Thanks

Of the 0.62% that ES is worth to the BS player (it's worth a lot more to a counter), 0.39% comes from the dealer's ace upcard, while 0.23% comes from the ten up.

Hi there,
All the casinos I've been to in Belgium so far offer this rule.

Hi Don,
Another rule I've come accross recently is if a player splits 10's and gets an Ace it's Blackjack not 21.
Obviously this has no eefect for a basic strategy player as he should't split 10's but what about the card counter. is there anyway of measuring the advantage this rule provides?
many thanks

Sure, but it would have to be simulated. I think the indices for splitting drop to around around +1 or +2 vs. 5 and 6 (I may be wrong), but it still wouldn't be basic strategy to split.
See Wong's "Basic BJ," p. 63.
