Can anyone explain why Germans almost always stand on Hard 16 instead of Hard 17. Their BJ rules are not that different.

    Shadow: Standing on Hard 16

That's an easy answer: They can't play the game. They are the worst BJ players in the world.

You hardly find any german who is playing some kind of BS. They think BJ is a team play and the players can only win if everybody at the table does everything correct ("Don't mess up the cards"!).

Hitting a 16 (or even a 15) is almost unthinkable because they feel that they lose way more times than they win. They have no knowledge about the basics of statistics.

And before you ask: Yes, I am german, too ;-))

    Hi Jack,

    Vielen Dank.

    MfG Boris

How come you only mentioned the spread in German?! :-)

    Shadow: German games

Can't tell about Omega II as I am using KO, but 80% pen sounds quite good. I know only a few places that have that good pen ;-))
The rules are o.k. but could be better (like resplits and RSA)

Can I assume that you can only play at full tables (3-7 players)? That will cut into your win rate. How often have you seen BJ's and 20's all around you on good counts and you are left with a stiff? :-( Additionally you only get about 40 hands per hour instead of 100.

Due to the conditions (full tables, lack of good rules and most times bad pen) the expectation in Germany is a lot lower than in the US.

This isn't quite correct. The extra players really don't cut into your EV or win percentage. The fewer hands per hour are definitely a drain on your hourly dollars won, but the presence of others at the table has little effect on your edge, expressed as a percentage or SCORE.

I always thought that it is a disadvantage as I have (worst case) 6 other players eating my cards in good counts. I realize they also eat them in low counts to my favor but I expected that the disadvantage will be higher due to the bigger bets I have out in the positive rounds.

    Thanks

No, it doesn't work that way. See BJA, p. 188, next-to-last paragraph, for a discussion of this precise concept.
