Basic strategy playing A8 vs 3-6

In 6- or 8-deck games, how do you play A8 vs 3,4,5, or 6? Do you stay or count the A8 as a 9 and double?

H17- Double 6@0, 5@+1, 4@+3, 3@+5, is what I remember and you always stand on S17 games. Check Wongs numbers in Profesional BJ.

What Pete said. It's funny when people say, "Wow you're greedy!". Like STFU, b****, it's basic strategy!!!

The OP's question was related to basic strategy. It's a Stand.

It's interesting to know that it varies with the count. I'll check it out.

Basic strategy is the same for 6 or 8 decks.

If dealer stands on soft 17: Stand A8 v 3,4,5,6

    If dealer hits a soft 17- Stand A8 v 3,4,5. Double A8 vs 6

Seems like I always get that comment when I double A8 v 6. Then a few rounds later, I will surrender a hand and the SAME GUY will say "C'mon man, screw that surrender crap, you should gamble a little bit."

Be careful doubling soft 19-20 and 10 vs 10. Recently I got heat because of doubling 10 vs 10

Soft 19 is a double verse 6 up, so you can easily get away with doubling it verse 5 or 4 (hell, 2 or 3 even) by saying "it's basic strategy".

What do they do to you when they give you heat?

If it's "real" heat then you leave. Give it a change of shift or a day or so then come back. But don't worry about the A8 DD against a 6. Most likely they'll think it's a basic strategy play. Or just say something like "Someone told me about this." then DD.

The other ones, like 4 and 5, when the count is right, this is where acting come in. Look for a couple seconds like your thinking about it then DD.
