AP fashion accessories, e.g. belts, wallets, etc.

I thought it would be worthwhile to start a thread on AP fashion accessories.

In another current thread, a member mentioned the idea of using a metal-less money belt when traveling through the airport. There's pros and cons to that, but it seems to me a money belt would be a good thing to wear in the casino to have an additional place for cash.

In my present situation, I need to replace my favorite belt, as it's about to break into two pieces, so I think I will upgrade to a money belt. It also happens that I need to go wallet shopping as well. Does anyone have any recommendations to consider when buying a wallet? I have the kind that folds into three sections. Another major style of men's wallet folds into two sections. Maybe those are flatter, but have less compartments? What else is there to consider? Obviously lots of distinct places to stuff cash would be good. I only seem to buy wallets about every 15 years, and my current wallet is falling apart and has way too many holes in critical areas, so I need a new one.

Shirts: I've discovered that I like shirts with a front pocket. When I walk around and have a fist full of chips, I like to put 1 or a couple of the highest denomination chips in my front shirt pocket, I feel those chips are safer that way. Now when I shop for shirts, I keep that in consideration.

    What else to consider?

Pants- I have 3 pair of lightweight synthetic pants. Probably made for hiking or some crap, but they are wonderful casino pants. Perfect for Vegas summers. They have 7 or 8 pockets, 3 of them zippered. Ideal for securely carrying chips + cash. Love them.

Look into custom shirts and blazers/jackets. You'd be amazed at how many options there are for hidden pockets and compartments.

IN these days of body scanners at airports, a money belt can be more trouble than it's worth.

    • First Note: All belts are scanned by the T.S.A.
    • Second note: T S A could care less. I have numerous times been found carrying mid-5 figure sums.
    • Third note: Meaningless in the context of an airport.

That is theoretically true, but not necessarily the case.
They are not supposed to hassle people for carrying cash, but some of them apparently never got the memo. I was recently hassled by a TSA agent in a small Midwest airport. After he thumbed through my bank envelopes of Benjies, he asked how much I was carrying. I asked him how his question was relevant to transportation safety. After a dirty look, several seconds long, he let me pass.

I tried a money belt once through the scanner. It didn't work. It also didn't matter. They asked a few questions and I was on my way. From then on out, I would just put cash in my carry on and never had problem.

There's a $10,000 threshold for international travel, in that it needs to be declared. But domestically, there is no limit.

I understand that they can still cause some headaches, but I haven't had any problems and I've carried quite a bit thru security.

A friend of mine once worked as a TSA. He said their primary concern is 1) bombs/wires and a distant 2) weapons.

How about considerations for inside the casino?

Airports aside, What's good for inside the casino? The money belt can only be good in this situation, correct?

Here's something to think about: Cargo pants. I've worn them, but not made use of all the pockets because I feel like I don't have much of a sense of security, because if a pick pocket were to reach into one of my pockets, I couldn't really tell, so I don't make use of the various pockets.

Wear a pocket tshirt, inside out. With the pocket next to your skin, its almost impossible for a pickpocket to grab it. Also helps in a mugging.

and then carry the fake wallet....20 dollars in ones (looks like a lot if quickly viewed ) a few fake credit cards
you know the ones that come in the mail with offers.

I can carry or rat hole $200-$400 in chips in each front pants pockets $100 red $100 green or $400 green thats 4-800 in chips for play, fine for my style and BR.

I do have a few pants that seem to have very shallow pockets these stay home. Oh and be careful what pocket
you put chips in was wearing a pair of carpenter jeans and stuck some chips in the side pocket (for stick rule)
they got stuck. I went to buy in and could not get them out I was standing there hitting my leg and fingering that small pocket.

I have my shirts made with front pockets and option allows for an expanding pocket so I can get more in.
