    ? /possible errata in Modern Blackjack 11

Page 502 Hole- card Hi-Lo indexes 12 vs 4 it says 1 shouldn`t that be -1 since basic HC strategy is to stand?

page 502 44 vs 15 (das) it says hit while on page 480 split (das) says split

With 12v4, you have low cards visible, so the count is higher. That's why it's +1.

Looks a bit suspicious. But, certainly possible as index decisions are based also on the indices of hands you will get after hitting.

So in the case of the 12 vs 4 is the chart saying at +1 or higher you stand.which would imply at 0 or less you would hit?

Yep. You see a couple of instances like this in normal basic strategy also.

    AndretheGiant,

Note that the fewer the decks, the better it is to HIT 12 vs. 4 at a T.C. of ZERO.

e.g. HIT in a DD game. STAND in an 8 deck shoe.

The above is a simplification, as it assumes a 12 composed of 10-2

A reasonable statement since 2/3's of your 12's (exclusive of 6-6) will be just that.

In case some of this confuses readers, these are hole-carding tables. Four, in this case, is the sum of the dealer cards, not the upcard.

Oh I see now.Anyway you arrive at 12 9,3 8,4 7,5 10,2 along with the total of 4 ie 2,2 your Hi-low count will be higher than +1 so this is why basic says to stand.
