Ted Binion was probably very valuable in the startup of the card counting mystique, which was behind a major part of the enormous growth of Las Vegas. But, he was not a nice person. (I am being EXTREMELY kind.)

Benny was a thug, but generally considered to be more fair, possible to get along with if you knew your place, and not subject to outbursts of violence without proper warning. Unless you were a black man he thought was stealing whiskey. Readers of his biography will know what I mean.
I read somewhere Benny Binion was the last man in America that had a Wanted Dead or Alive poster put out on him, and the Gov of Texas said forget the alive part. That's why he went to Nevada.
Didn't some guy hire a plane and was going to drop aerial bombs on Binions ranch because he was too well protected to hit any other way?
